Campaign Cabinet & Co-Chairs
The Niagara College Foundation Board of Directors has accepted the challenge of raising $16.5 million to support the Master Plan. The Foundation Directors comprise the core of the Campaign Cabinet with assistance from other community leaders within the Niagara Region and beyond.
The Foundation is delighted to have recruited two high profile community leaders, who are dedicated to the success of the Building Futures Campaign.
"I think that Niagara College historically, presently and certainly with this campaign going forward is not only underscoring its leadership position, it's highlighting it and ensuring it for the future."
Mark Basciano is the Owner and President of the Mountainview Group of companies, which includes Mountainview Homes, Mountainview Custom Homes, Mountainview Construction and Mountainview Properties. The award-winning Thorold company was formed in 1979, and is a market leader and premier homebuilder in Niagara.
Basciano is the President of the Ontario Home Builders Association, a Director of Community Leaders Invitational, a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association of Niagara, a member of the St. Catharines- Thorold and Niagara Falls Chambers of Commerce, and a former member of the Board of Meridian Credit Union.
Like the company he leads, Mark is community-minded and lends his time to many charitable endeavours that benefit local charities and agencies, including the March of Dimes, the Niagara Children’s Centre, Wellspring Niagara and Hotel Dieu Hospital.
"We are empowering the next generation of employees and future employers of this region and that is vitally important. We are giving ourselves the tools to succeed."
Anna Olson is the host of Food Network Canada’s Sugar, and Kitchen Equipped, which also aired on HGTV. Her latest show, Fresh with Anna Olson, is filmed at her Welland home, and promotes her motto "eat fresh, eat local."
Olson has also written three cook books and co-authored two more with her husband, Niagara College Chef/Professor Michael Olson. She also writes for various publications, including Vines, LCBO Food & Drink, and writes a weekly column with her husband for the St. Catharines Standard.
Giving back to the community, Olson supports the Niagara Women’s Enterprise Centre, which provides hospitality training to women. She participates in a number of fundraisers to support community organizations. Olson also sits on the board for the Adolescent Family Support Services of Niagara, which provides educational daycare support for young mothers.
